At Pen's age, the best birthdays are filled with cards. Cute homemade cards from brothers, and other cards with 'stuff' in them. I'm sure that's what she'll tell you, anyway.
She actually did get one box, but thankfully she didn't seem too bummed about what it contained.
Unlike in her younger years, Pen made short work of blowing out the candles on her cake. The longest part of it all was waiting for her to take a photo of the cake with her phone.
On Monday of this week we managed to get a few of Pen's friends together for a little birthday party of sorts. It was the last day of fall break and since the kids were out of school we decided to serve brunch. I made the girls some waffles, cheesy scrambled eggs, and hash browns. Then the girls hung out watching a movie and doing makeup on each other. Even Edith got in on it.
Turning fifteen doesn't seem too bad-- skipping it to turn twenty would have been a shame. Happy Birthday, Pen! We love you!

What wonderful pictures!! Happy birthday to Pen! (And I know you know that I gave birth to a 20-year-old as well, so I know how you feel.) And you're right--20 will come soon enough.
