In His Element

Now that the weather has cooled down a bit, Big is eager to spend a lot more time outdoors. He loves to go in the back yard to play with his work trucks and dig. I enjoy watching him as he is out in his element, doing what makes him happy.

He talks to himself the whole time he's out there, too, giving himself a running commentary of what's going on. It's super cute to watch.

Of course, he was more than happy to have me come out so he could talk my ear off instead of his own.

Yeah, I know that I just posted a gazillion pictures of my kid talking, but the one-sided conversation was really that good! After he got past the really scintillating part, Big was able to talk while digging again.

Then I had to tell the poor kid that I needed to go inside to feed Edith.

He was fine talking to himself until I got out there, but I guess once you have an audience the solitary show isn't as exciting. Then I promised him I'd send his dad out to listen and watch and all was right in the world again.

Yup. Big was in his element all right. Talking and digging, his two favorite things to do. I'm pretty sure that in his mind it's the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

I tried to take a picture of Ginger and Edith...

...but they couldn't seem to keep their eyes off of Big. Clearly, I'm not the only one who thinks his digging and talking is entertaining.

That's Big, the born digging-work-guy entertainer. Who needs a TV?

He looks so much older to me all of the sudden! What a cutie, he's definitely not lacking in the personality department!
