Showing the Signs

Right now, as I sit here, a feeling of dread is developing in the pit of my stomach. I'm afraid that what I feared is happening. It is with great dismay that I realize Big is beginning to show the signs. I was really hoping to have at least another year before it occurred!

Big seems to be growing out of needing a nap! Pen stopped taking naps at 18 months and, I fear, Big is aiming to do the same. At this moment, he is in his crib talking, singing and banging his feet instead of sleeping as he is supposed to do.

On the days I manage to get him to take a good nap, he then spends an hour in his crib at night playing before finally succumbing to sleep. Yes, Big is definitely showing the signs and I'm NOT happy about it! I'm just sooo not ready!

Wow. Both Eli and Lex stopped right at the 2 year mark. I thought that was bad- 18 months would be brutal. I have friends with kids in kindergarden that still take naps. That's right- KINDERGARDEN! That must be nice....

You could insert "Gid" where you have "Big" and I could have written that post. (Maybe I'll do that, it's so well-written and all! heh heh JK) I'm just dreading having Gid awake in the afternoon, my life will be sooooo different! I'm sorry you have to suffer too. I know, just send him over to play with Gid!

Sure, I have friends with older kids that still take naps, too. But that's because they let them stay up until 10 or 11 at night. Mine have a strict bedtime of 8:00 (and that's just been upped from 7:30--I just have to have my adult time in the evenings or I'm a bear of a mom the next day!).

At least I can take heart that if he won't nap during the day I'll still have my alone time at night (as long as we both make it through the day, that is).

Oh, and Jen, feel free to use the post if you like. You are a very busy Mom of SEVEN, so I'm willing to help make your life easier if I can. What's a little plagiarism between friends, anyway? ; )
