Spotlight or Mood Lighting?

The women's restroom at our church building has 4 stalls. The two middle stalls have bright lights directly overhead, while the two outside stalls make do with whatever light filters their way.

For some reason, I always use the outside stalls.... until a few weeks ago that is. On this particular Sunday, I opted to use one of the inside stalls. As I went about my business, I started to feel a little uncomfortable, as though I were under a spotlight and someone was waiting for me to perform. I swear it felt like performance anxiety was about to set in!

Needless to say, I have since gone back to using the outside stalls. Apparently, I am one who prefers mood lighting to being in the spotlight.

Since this is the second blog post involving the ladies room, I'll ask the question:

Did the stalls have paper seat covers?

Of course not, t0moo! Pure of bum, remember?

And as for the fact that it's my second post involving bathrooms, I think it's because, as a mom of 4, it is often the only place that I get a chance to think!

Talk about airing your dirty laundry!

You totally make me laugh. No, I NEVER would have guessed that you would want to avoid the spotlight while doing your business. NEVER. ;)

Well, this post was meant to make people laugh, janeannechovy, so I guess it did it's job. Although, I have this niggling sensation that you're laughing in that way that means you think I'm FUNNY, not that I have a good sense of humor! ; )

Honestly, I don't think I've ever once considered the variations in lighting in public bathroom stalls. I suppose if I were to think about it, I would pick a brightly-lit one so I'd have a better chance of seeing that the seat has a drip before sitting down.

I agree about needing to see drips-- just about the only thing worse than sitting on a drip is sitting on the toilet when you don't realize the seat's been left up. The best bathroom stall is one where the lighting allows you to see drips, but is not so bright as to make you feel violated.... and has paper seat covers!

Have you ever considered wearing sunglasses in the bright stalls? Might be an option if the dim ones are taken up.
